Squirrels Retreat is our modern family owned caravan, which sits in a lovely small quiet close with the start of the woodland paths just at the end of the close. We have a large garden area designed and created to encourage wildlife, with bird feeders, nest boxes and planted up to encourage the local wildlife. If you love wildlife and gardens the Squirrels Retreat would be perfect! We have composite decking to the front and side with part of the front decking having a covered balcony so you can still sit out with your morning brew and enjoy watching the birds on the bird feeder during any light showers.  Many of the features of this holiday home including double glazing and central heating, makes it a perfect family escape all year round. Our caravan is very well equipped with lots of little extras you won't find in your standard rental van. Outside Area

I am a keen gardener and nature lover so the outside space to me is very important. We wanted to create not just a haven for wildlife but also a wonderful place to sit and relax. The covered balcony area with a rattan table and chairs is the perfect place for alfresco breakfast or lunch and because it's covered you don't need to worry if there is a light shower.  I also love to sit out on the decking at night listening to the Owl or watching the bats, and on a clear night, the sky is alight with stars. We have created different seating area's in the garden. The Zen area, with a beautiful wooden swing bench, a lovely spot to sit and relax, listen to the amazing bird song or watch the cheeky squirrels pinching the bird food! At the other end of the garden you will find an egg chair tucked away, surrounded by shrubs and trees, a great place to escape to and sit and read a favourite book. The garden has been planted up with a variety of plants to encourage Bee's and Butterflies. We have a bird feeding station and get a great variety of birds that visit, including Woodpeckers, Nuthatches and siskins. We fall asleep listening to the owls and wake up to the blackbirds and song thrushes singing! It's not just the Squirrels and rabbits that visit the garden we also get the local badger! We have also put up bird nest boxes and insect houses to encourage the wildlife. We wanted the garden to be a place to relax and enjoy the surrounding nature.  The parking bay is right besides the caravan.

With the caravan being in a woodland setting and designing the garden to attract the wildlife we get a great variety of birds visiting our bird feeders, we also have a couple of nest boxes up that are also used by nesting birds and a Bat box up in one of the trees for the bats. We have Squirrels that visit us on a daily basis and they now even have their very own Squirrel feeding station, and on the odd occasion the rabbits stop by the garden (luckily so far they have left my plants alone)We hear the Owls most nights and in mid April to June there's a good chance you will hear the Cuckoo's, I have heard them but I've yet to see one. There are foxes and Badgers on the site, and we are lucky to have a badger visit our garden most nights. There are also Pine Martins in the woods here. The site is just 5 mins away from a Osprey nesting site and we do on occasion see the Osprey flying past the caravan but it always seems to be when I don't have my camera handy! It's such a haven for wildlife, you just never know what you will see next!
